The Maker Professional is a U.S. Department of Labor Nationally recognized program that works with unemployed, under-employed and dislocated workers to help them find gainful employment in the manufacturing industry. This 90-day job training is FREE for those who meet the eligibility requirements:
1. 18+ years old
2. Legal to work in the U.S.
3. Unemployed, under-employed* or dislocated worker (*making less than $14/hr with underutilized skills or education)
4. Looking for full-time career in manufacturing or making

The Maker Professional classes are taught at TechShop Pittsburgh in Bakery Square in the East Liberty neighborhood of Pittsburgh. Participants will learn a variety of technical hands-on skills including rapid prototyping with laser cutters and 3D printers, numeric controlled processes, electronics prototyping, precision machining, metal fabrication and welding. Participants are also exposed to design software including the Adobe Creative Suite and AutoDesk. Other classes include production basics, project planning, material selection, scaling for production, and leadership and mentoring.
